WISE Interventions

In collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) WISEWOMAN Program, the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention through the Center of Excellence for Training and Research Translation (Center TRT) and its National Advisory Board developed a process for reviewing, translating and disseminating interventions. This process can be applied to WISEWOMAN interventions that have been tested through research studies (research-tested) or WISEWOMAN interventions that have been developed and evaluated in the field (practice-based). The Center TRT and Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR) reviewed the WISEWOMAN interventions and prepared the templates.

WISE Interventions go through the review process and are recommended by expert reviewers and CDC for dissemination on www.wiseinterventions.org. To view the intervention templates, click on an intervention in the left toolbar.

Generalizability Disclaimer
WISE Interventions were developed and evaluated within the context of the CDC WISEWOMAN Program. Users of the templates should understand this context before they can determine the appropriateness of an intervention for their particular populations and settings. WISEWOMAN seeks to provide low-income, under- or uninsured 40- to 64-year-old women with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to improve diet, physical activity, and other lifestyle behaviors to prevent, delay and control cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. Key characteristics of this program include a baseline screening for chronic disease risk factors, referral to a lifestyle intervention, referral to gain access to any necessary medications, and a follow-up screening to assess changes in risk factors at one year.
