Obesity Prevention in Public Health Training
In its sixth year, the 2010 Obesity Prevention in Public Health Course is expanding the curriculum and increasing the number of course participants to provide all 50 states and US
Territories with an opportunity to participate. The Obesity Prevention course offers an informal learning environment, with an emphasis on interactive teaching, and small group workshops applicable to common challenges facing public health practitioners. While days are jam-packed with activity, course participants eat, sleep and learn in a retreat environment at the extraordinary Paul J Rizzo Conference Center in Chapel Hill, NC.
The primary goal of the course is to promote and support evidence- based practice by state-level staff with a focus on implementing and sustaining effective policy and environmental change interventions. In addition, the course promotes mentoring relationships between state programs through networking and small group interactions.
This training is sponsored by CDC Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity (DNPAO) and the University of North Carolina Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP).
