Contributing Factors
Contributing Factors are lifestyle and health behaviors, specific health conditions, and policy and environmental factors that increase or decrease the risk of developing a disease, in this case the risk of developing obesity.
Contributing factors answer the question: What are the causative and protective factors that could potentially be targeted by interventions?
When you click on a category of contributing factors, you will find a brief summary of the evidence for or against the contribution of the factor to obesity. These summaries were derived from published systematic reviews of the evidence as of the date of posting (see PDF) and will be updated periodically.
